During my Master of Education program with a focus on learning and leadership in adult education, I had the opportunity to create an exciting project called the "Closing the Gap Event". This project aimed to bridge the gap between academic design spaces and the professional design industry. To achieve this, I used a combination of the Friere model, universal design, design thinking, and learning spaces to create a social networking program. The program was divided into three stages: planning, hosting, and gathering and sharing qualitative research.
This innovative program provided a platform for knowledge exchange and networking between academia and industry, promoting collaboration and idea-sharing. It also allowed for real-world feedback on student work, which was invaluable for their professional development. By addressing students' and industry professionals' identified learning needs, this project served as an excellent example of effective learning design in action. 🖌💡📚✨
